Kedarnath is a town located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and has gained importance because of Kedarnath Temple.
It is a nagar panchayat in Rudraprayag district. The most remote of the four Char Dham sites, Kedarnath is located in the Himalayas, about 3,584 m (11,759 ft) above sea level near Chorabari Glacier, the head of river Mandakini, and is flanked by breathtaking snow-capped peaks.
Kedarnath Valley, the temple town which was the epicentre of the Uttarakhand rain fury, was on Sunday cleared of all stranded pilgrims, as rescuers battled rains to evacuate 3,000 more people in the disaster in which the death toll is likely to cross 5,000.
Our organization has raised an initiative to help kedarnath disaster victims, by collecting a fund via relief campaign which will be used in helping injured, homeless and hungry pilgrims.
